London College of Creative Media (LCCM) has announced it is working in collaboration with Southwark Music Hub for the “All About the Band” initiative.
“All About the Band” is a 10-week free music course, taught by industry experts and hosted by LCCM. The project that first started 3 years ago, supports young and aspiring musicians from Southwark to produce, record, and perform, music professionally.
The practical hands-on project is designed for young artists who want to play their own music, join a band and perform live. It’s also a brilliant opportunity for them to learn from industry-leading tutors and network with other local musicians.
Denise Barber, Head of Southwark Music Hub, said: “Southwark Music Hub is delighted to support the continuation of this wonderful opportunity for our young people at LCCM's beautiful new site. This is a great project that has helped so many of our youngsters develop and hone their musical skills.”
The programme runs every Tuesday afternoon until the end of March. During this course, the young musicians work closely with professionals from the music industry, attending weekly workshops that focus on developing aspects like performance technique and practical training.
At the end of the course, participants will be able to spend a day in LCCM's state-of-the-art recording studio, followed by a live gig showcasing their newly improved skills at LCCM's Music Box venue.
Darius Khwaja, Principal at LCCM, commented: “We are looking forward to welcoming talented young musicians from Southwark to LCCM. This is a great opportunity for them to get new experience, attend workshops and practice sessions, and to network with other aspiring musicians.”
