Saba, MUA and St. Matthews host commencement ceremonies

On Friday 9 June, Saba University School of Medicine, Medical University of the Americas and St. Matthew’s University marked a significant milestone by holding their first commencement ceremonies at The Vets in Rhode Island, USA. The event, celebrating the classes of 2020 – 2023, was a testament to the resilience and perseverance of students and staff amidst challenging times.

The keynote speaker for the event was Dr Dante Morra, Chief of Staff Trillium Health Partners and President THP Solutions and an accomplished leader in the medical field. In his inspiring address, he urged the new graduates to use their education and skills to improve healthcare in their respective communities.

The ceremonies were a momentous occasion, with a total of 498 graduates from Saba, 278 from MUA and 163 from St. Matthew’s. Distinctions were given to students Keyur Patel, Diane Eapen, Tyler St. Louis, Teja Vasa and Maheen Mirza for their outstanding performance and academic excellence.

In addition to the graduates and their families, the event was attended by the board of trustee members and academic administrators from all three schools, including Cyndi McLeod, CEO of GUS Canada and the Americas. The joint commencement ceremonies marked the first time all three schools had gathered in person since the pandemic began. It was a testament to the close collaboration and partnerships between the institutions.
