On Thursday 28 September, UPES ranked 2nd amongst state universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024. UPES ranked in the 801-1000 band, 9th amongst all private and deemed universities in India and 25th in India. For the first time ever, the World University Rankings include 91 Indian universities. Additionally, India has also become the fourth best-represented nation in the 2024 rankings, up from the sixth last year.

On Thursday 28 September, The University of Law was delighted to announce it had been awarded an overall Silver rating, with a Gold rating for Student Experience and Silver rating for the Student Outcomes in the Office for Students (OfS) Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) for 2023.

The international education community focused its attention on the PIEoneer Awards, held on September 22, 2023, at the Hilton Bankside in London, United Kingdom, and broadcast online. GUS Canada’s CEO, Cyndi McLeod, received high honours, winning in the category of ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Industry.’

On September 20, 2023, a landmark event titled ‘Education for Sustainable Development: Closing the Digital Divide in Ibero-America’ unfolded, jointly organised by the International Youth Organization for Ibero-America and Global University Systems.

On 20 September 2023, at an official side event of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) and FutureLearn announced a partnership to accelerate Education for Sustainable Development in UNESCO learning cities.

Global University Systems (GUS), in a pioneering partnership with the International Youth Organization for Ibero-America (OIJ), is set to host a pivotal event titled “Bridging the Educational Divide” on-site at the UN General Assembly at their headquarters in New York. Set for Wednesday, 20 September 2023, this event aims to tackle the educational and digital disparities prevalent in Ibero-America.
