Last week, London College of Contemporary Music graduate Giulia Grispino, known artistically as Sans Soucis, won an Ivor Novello Award, for Best Contemporary Song in partnership with Amazon Music.
The awards, also known as The Ivors, is the most prestigious celebration of songwriting, and screen composition and in its 70th year, several industry heavy weights including U2, Charlie XCX and Robbie Williams performed.
Sans Soucis achieved the award for their track, “Circumnavigating Georgia”, marking their first Ivor Novello Award. Recognising its deep level of originality and careful selection of words, the song was praised by judges for leaving a lasting effect on the listener.
Elsewhere, the best song musically and lyrically was won by Orla Gartland for Mine, while beating the likes of Lola Young and Fontaines DC.
