UPES partners with OpenAI to become India’s first AI-ready university
UPES announced a landmark partnership with OpenAI to embed generative AI across its academic and institutional ecosystem, becoming India’s first AI-ready university. Through the deployment of ChatGPT Edu, the university will provide governed, secure access to advanced AI capabilities for all students, faculty, and staff, integrating AI directly into teaching, learning, research, and student services. The initiative is designed to build practical, discipline-specific AI skills as part of everyday academic work, preparing learners for emerging roles in an AI-driven economy.
The collaboration introduces AI-enabled academic support such as personalised tutoring aligned to curricula, enhanced student-service guidance, and frameworks that promote responsible and transparent use of AI. A Responsible AI Charter and structured governance will guide ethical adoption across campus.
As part of this engagement, UPES students also interacted with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, contributing to discussions on the evolving relationship between technology, education, and the future workforce.
