Arden University and Google Cloud form strategic partnership to develop AI-ready graduates

Arden University, part of the Global University Systems (GUS) network of higher education institutions, has formed a strategic partnership with Google Cloud to put artificial intelligence at the heart of the student experience and help prepare graduates for an increasingly AI-enabled global job market.
As part of the partnership, more than 30,000 Arden students and staff will gain access to Gemini Enterprise, giving students the opportunity to develop the practical AI skills increasingly sought by employers and use the technology confidently, responsibly and effectively throughout their studies and beyond.
The collaboration represents a significant step in Arden’s approach to AI-enabled education and aligns with the wider GUS network’s focus on harnessing technology and innovation to enhance learning, strengthen employability and prepare students for the changing needs of the global workforce.
Arden has also announced the launch of more than 30 new degrees designed from the ground up to incorporate immersive, AI-enabled learning experiences. Practical AI literacy and ethical guidance will be embedded across curricula, helping students understand how to use AI safely and responsibly in both academic and professional settings.
The partnership comes as AI skills become increasingly important in the workplace. Google’s Economic Impact in the UK report found that advanced AI users are more likely to be promoted, receive a pay rise and feel confident at work. The research also found that only the top 15% of UK adults currently use AI effectively.
“Arden University was built for people the traditional British university system was never designed for – people who are already in the workforce, raising a family, or coming back to education years after they thought that door had closed,” said Nilhan Onal Gokcetekin, CEO of Arden University.
“The evidence shows us that those who build the confidence to use AI well are reaping the benefits. Our partnership with Google Cloud will ensure that every student has the opportunity to develop the AI skills and practical experience they need to succeed in the modern workplace, no matter their background, life circumstances or previous education experience.”
The integration of Gemini Enterprise will support Arden students across their studies and professional development.
Students will be able to use the technology to condense lecture recordings and extensive reading materials into accessible study notes, providing additional flexibility for those balancing higher education with employment, family or other commitments. Gemini Enterprise will also provide on-demand academic assistance, helping students explore complex theories, structure assignments and receive real-time feedback.
Alongside academic support, students will be able to use AI for interview preparation, CV development and workplace task simulations. This will give graduates practical experience of applying AI to real-world challenges, collaborating effectively and navigating an increasingly AI-enabled workplace. Google research shows that advanced AI users are 84% more likely to be promoted and 55% more likely to receive a pay rise, highlighting the growing value of practical AI capabilities in the workplace.
“Arden University supports a student community that closely reflects the modern workforce, and that’s exactly why this partnership matters,” said Maureen Costello, vice president, UK, Ireland and Sub-Saharan Africa, Google Cloud. “Our research shows the benefits of AI are flowing to the people who know how to use it well, and right now that’s too few. By putting Gemini Enterprise, the same agentic AI platform used by the world’s largest organisations, into the hands of every Arden University student, we’re helping make sure the next generation of UK workers doesn’t just adapt to the AI era, but leads it.”
Arden is integrating practical AI literacy and ethical guidance throughout its curricula to ensure students graduate equipped to use emerging technologies safely and responsibly.
Academic staff will also draw on Gemini Enterprise to develop interactive demonstrations and real-world case studies and create learning resources in more accessible formats, including audio and visual overviews and mind maps.
The partnership is significant beyond Arden University, reflecting a wider priority across Global University Systems to explore how emerging technologies can enhance education while keeping student outcomes and employability at the centre.
As institutions across the Global University Systems network continue to respond to the opportunities created by AI, Arden’s collaboration with Google Cloud demonstrates how partnerships with global technology leaders can help translate innovation into practical benefits for students: from more flexible and personalised learning to the skills and experience needed for the future workplace.
