The University of Europe for Applied Sciences celebrates its 25th anniversary
Last Friday, the University of Europe for Applied Sciences celebrated its 25th anniversary – a milestone marked together with alumni, staff, students, and long-time companions of the university. Under the motto ‘25 Years of Education that Moves’ , the institution hosted a full day of events, including an official ceremony. In the welcoming speeches, the mayor of Iserlohn and district administrator of Märkischer Kreis, recalled the early days of the university, which was founded in 2000 with just 23 students.
Today, UE teaches around 7,500 students from over 140 nations, on over 63 study programmes and has expanded to five campuses. In addition to Iserlohn, locations now include Berlin, Hamburg, Potsdam, and even Dubai.
UE President, Prof Maurits van Rooijen paid special tribute to founder Dietrich Walter, stating: “His visionary spirit laid the foundation for a university that today sets international standards. Yet even a visionary like him could not have foreseen that his dream would one day shape so many lives – and even reach the Middle East.”
