The University of Law is deeply committed to improving its environmental impact. Across its 20 locations globally – comprising 17 campuses in the UK, international sites in Hong Kong and Berlin and a dedicated online campus – it’s has made strong progress in reducing carbon emissions, improving the efficiency of its built environment, and reducing waste.
Emissions Reduction The University of Law is striving to meet the criteria of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s Race to Zero by committing to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions for Scope 1, 2 and 3 by 2050 or sooner. It has achieved a validated Net Zero Target and roadmap for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. In partnership with Compliance 365, it has identified potential projects to further reduce these emissions and completed the business certification process with Planet Mark for data from June 2023 to May 2024.
The University of Law uses 100% renewable electricity across its campuses, with Nottingham generating solar energy. The university is developing a Green Travel Plan based on staff and student surveys. Half of its suppliers by spend have signed its Sustainability Charter. The university is collaborating with 27 UK institutions on a Net Zero Supplier tool for tracking emissions and reduction plans.
The University of Law will be focusing on: Educating on sustainability, Built Environment Optimisation, Waste Management and Reduction, Sustainable Procurement and Biodiversity Initiatives.
