On Saturday 11 May, two of GUS Canada’s institutions joined forces with the Canadian University Dubai (CUD). CUD presented two significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) at its campus in Dubai to GUS Medical Schools and the University of Niagara Falls Canada respectively.
The MoUs were signed during two of three ceremonies by Cyndi McLeod, CEO of GUS Canada, and Professor Karim Chelli, President and Vice-Chancellor of Canadian University Dubai. The ceremonies were held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. They included another celebration, the 13th Graduation Ceremony for the class of 2023–24, which Cyndi McLeod attended as an honoured guest.
Cyndi McLeod said: “These MoUs mark an important moment for our institutions, enabling us to share knowledge and resources that will enrich the academic landscapes for our students across multiple fields of study – including STEM, business, and the arts. By collaborating closely, we are creating opportunities for innovation and growth that will benefit both our local and global communities.”
The first MoU paves the way for CUD Health Sciences graduates to pursue medical programmes at GUS’ prestigious Saba University School of Medicine, St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine and Medical University of the Americas. This initiative offers a pathway for all graduates with a BSc in Public Health (both Health Administration HA and Environmental Health Management EHM specialisations) to enter one of GUS Medical Schools for the four-year MD programme.
The second MoU agrees to explore cooperation in multiple academic areas, including Communication, Engineering, Business Management, Arts and Sciences and Executive Training between CUD and UNF.
