The University of Law Campus Dean Aruna Verma sworn in to Sikh Court
On Saturday 20 April, Aruna Verma, Dean of The University of Law’s Moorgate Campus, was sworn in as a Judge of The Sikh Court.
The ceremony took place at The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and was officiated by The Hon. Judge Manpreet Singh of the United States of America. Aruna is now one of 14 judges appointed to serve in the Sikh Court UK.
The Sikh Court is an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) based on a ‘Med-Arb’ framework, a forum created by Sikh and non-Sikh lawyers and judges from across the world to resolve disputes within the Sikh community. This has been a labour of love for the past year.
Baldip Singh MCIArb, Chief Justice of the Sikh Court, said: “Today, we honour our fathers and forefathers who sacrificed so much – their own happiness and health – working in factories and foundries to provide us with the education and positions we all now hold. They sowed the seeds, knowing that one day we might be able to do something for the betterment of the Sikh Panth.”
The University of Law congratulates Aruna Verma and the other newly sworn-in judges.
